    • In todays world, it isn’t easy to find a job…any job, let alone your dream job. In her book The Art Of Finding The Job You Love, Cara takes you deep into the mindset of a recruiter, interviewer, hiring manager and YOU. Cara’s technique of using improv and humor to conquer the stressful, on the spot, mistakes that are made during the interview process is brilliant! She takes you step by step on the journey of searching, applying, interviewing and being hired for the job you love. Cara teaches you how to interview as your authentic self, stand out in an ever so competitive clump of interviewees, and how to be the one that gets hired! Her knowledge and insights are remarkable. Whether you are searching for your dream job, or just putting yourself out to the world in anyway at all, this book is for you! With Cara Heilmann in your corner, you’re sure to succeed!
    • I just love Cara Heilmann's approach to "Finding the Job You Love"! Cara has such a gift at being so clear in her writing and funny and, can I say, BRILLIANT! Her ability to explain how to prepare yourself physically and mentally for an interview, especially when you are in the process in a higher pay grade, is on the money. Cara breaks the mold when she leaves the conventional interview process and brings in creativity - "be a spider". What? But keep reading and you begin to understand the meaning of why "be a spider". Learn how to make your interview process more successful and actually get the job you covet. I do not give 5 stars easily.... Cara's book is so deserving. Read it and enjoy your new position because I know it will be your dream job come true!
    • Cara Heilmann successfully combines the art of improvisation with the challenges of the mid-career job search. By connecting the skills of improv with those necessary for a job interview she finds a practical formula. She reminds the reader what the audience and the interview committee see is the result of careful and purposeful practice. Then, the author adds some interesting tidbits about how our amygdala over compensates and limits the risks and rewards of search process. After sharing a few "games," the book ends with several important reminders about the overall fit or match with the interviewing company. Heilmann shares her expertise from a human-resource perspective in the final pages as she details why even authentic, successful interviews may not be enough. It is a welcome reminder and ego-salve to help job-seekers manage their expectations and continue in the hunt.
    • Reading this book, highlighted strategies such as improv games to successfully present the "real you" during your job search process. It can be a difficult journey at first when considering a career switch, finding your "thing" (aka passion) and/or broadening your career horizons. However, after reading this book, including testimonials and descriptive samples related to job interview questions, you will be able to sound and look confident in your search even though it may requires you to go outside of your comfort zone to find your dream job. I thought the author did an excellent work at aligning improv games with hiring process stages to present the "best you" with no regret. In addition, the author's comprehensive experience in hiring talent gives us a backstage view of how the hiring process is conducted and insightful information on the "inner" voice of hiring. This how-to guide book contains stories of people who are facing the same situations that we are when job hunting and so it is easy to relate to their feelings during this time of anxious uncertainty about the outcome. For my part, I could see my young self in Amit, the introvert tech guy who needed more interview prep to boost his confidence level. Last but not least, the sample questions provided are helpful as we often overthink the interview process and end up not being able to answer simple questions; but such questions can disclose a lot of about someone's charisma. The main lesson learned is to stick to the fundamentals and connect with others through your own stories. A must-read for anyone, who is getting back into the job market, and need interview tips.
    • It's tough enough today to find a job, much less a job you will truly love. The Art of Finding the Job You Love provides practical and creative strategies to land the position you really want. Heilmann presents the brutal truths of recruitment along with solid advice on how to show up as the perfect candidate during the interview process. I especially enjoyed the chapters on employing Improv techniques as preparation for an interview - having once been interviewed by 40 physicians and health care leaders, all in one room - I wish I'd had this resource then. The Art of Finding the Job You Love is a must-read for anyone seeking to change their life by identifying and subsequently landing their dream position.
