- This is a very good intrduction to the acquired skill of speed reading. It also provides excellent information regarding the basics of reading and comprehension, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of speed reading techniques. Speed reading can offer quite a few benefits in today's world, especially for people such as students and business people. It makes all the sense in the world to learn how to speed read with all the information we are bombarded with day after day. Anyone would love to be able to deal with their inbox much faster. The key message of this narrative is that when someone is speed reading they do so by skimming through the pages of the text while also attempting to maintain a decent comprehension rate. When people read at their normal default pace of 240 words per minute, their comprehension rate is around three quarters. When speed reading is thrown into the mix, the comprehension rate usually drops to 50% and often lower. This book also provides excellent pointers regarding improvment of the readers normal reading speed. I recommend this book to everyone.
