View From Above An Astronaut Photographs the World Terry Virts Buzz Aldrin 9781426218644 Books Reviews

  • If you are among those that recall their childhood dreams of space, like many that grew up when Apollo 11 landed, and Neil and Buzz took those first steps upon another world.... then this is a book that you would likely enjoy very, very much...
The ISS is an amazing piece of modern engineering and a symbol of cooperation between the USA, Russia, Japan, and Europe - and a needed window on our home planet... If only we all could see what author and photographer-astronaut Terry Virts has seen, with his own eyes and 'vision', we might appreciate our life-giving and precious planet much more. We all need to get more proactive, like many astronauts that return from space with a new mission to help preserve and protect our tiny 'pale blue dot' - as Carl Sagan once called Earth. If you or anyone you care about loves space, science, adventure, and our Mother Earth - then grab a copy of this wonderfully illustrated and hopeful book soon!
  • The quality of the book is excellent. The photos are excellent...I just wish there were a lot more "Views From Above" the Earth, as the title implies. If the author took over 3000,000 photos, I would have thought many more would be included. Maybe a follow-on book would be a good idea, with more coverage of the planet and less of the spacecraft.
  • This is an awesome book, I really enjoy reading through and looking at the pictures and it has a huge wow factor with the kids too.
  • Cmdr. Virts did a great job telling his story with great photos and an easy to read writing style. His choices for photos was good. It would have been nice to have it on higher quality paper but the price would be higher but you still get the sense you were there. It must have been hard to choose from all those pictures. Well worth the money!
  • Given as a gift with the book Endurance for Christmas! Nice combination gift was much appreciated!
  • This book features some of the most captivating photographs of space that you will ever have the opportunity to see.  It presents a perspective that inspires and enchants.  Loved reading his personal story and experiences in space. Will inspire great conversation at your next get-together and sure to be favorite in your collection.
  • I purchased this book and absolutely love it. I'd recommend it to everyone! It's a well written book for the entire family. The photos are magnificent and enjoyed seeing photos of all aspects of Commander Virts' life in space from liftoff to landing. Thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful photos of the Space Station. I hope he does another book and would love to see Astronaut Terry Virts write a children's book also. I purchased more books for gifts.
  • This and "Astronauts" were purchased for a 10 year old boy fascinated with space. Both were received with delight.
